This advisory updates the location and ramp closures for the southbound I-17 closure this weekend.
Drivers who use Interstate 17 in the Phoenix area should allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes this weekend while the following closures and restrictions are in place for pavement removal.

Important for Everyone That Lives in the North Valley
UPDATED: Southbound I-17 between Loop 101 and Cactus Road will be CLOSED from 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3. The following ramps will also be closed:
1) The southbound I-17 on-ramps at Deer Valley and Pinnacle Peak roads
2) The east- and westbound Loop 101 on-ramps to southbound I-17
3) The southbound frontage road between Greenway and Thunderbird roads also will be closed during this time.
For access to Tuscany Pointe Apartments, a portion of the frontage road will remain open. Drivers may travel both north- and southbound from Country Gables Drive to the complex.
DETOUR:
Southbound I-17 traffic can exit at Deer Valley Road and detour onto southbound 19th or 35th avenues to re-enter I-17 at Cactus Road.
The ramps from southbound I-17 to east- and westbound Loop 101 will remain open.
Drivers should consider exiting ahead of the closure and using routes to enter eastbound Loop 101 to access southbound State Route 51 as alternate route to reach the downtown Phoenix/Sky Harbor Airport region.
Please note:
I-17 also will be narrowed to two lanes (left lanes closed) in both directions between Cactus Road and Dunlap Avenue for center barrier work (Valley Metro’s light rail bridge project).
The Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) will also be closed southbound between 75th Avenue and Thunderbird Road from 9 p.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 2) for pavement sealing.
Drivers should use caution and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through any work zones.
