October has arrived in Arizona, and the Valley’s fall event season is officially getting busy.
If you’re looking for things to do in Phoenix this weekend, October 2โ4 brings Oktoberfest celebrations, art, live entertainment, home and garden inspiration, cultural events, college football and plenty of reasons to get out and explore the Valley.
Here are some of our picks for the weekend.

๐จ First Friday Art Walk โ Downtown Phoenix
Friday, October 2
Downtown Phoenix / Roosevelt Row
Start the weekend with one of Downtown Phoenix’s best-known traditions.
First Friday brings people into the downtown arts districts to explore galleries, restaurants, shops and local art. This particular First Friday is also noteworthy because October 2 marks the beginning of Phoenix’s new one-year arts-vending pilot program designed to reconnect the event with its arts-focused roots. City of Phoenix
Phoenix Art Museum is participating with free general admission from 5โ8 PM, along with special art-making activities. Phoenix Art Museum

๐ป Rocktoberfest at SanTan Gardens
October 2โ4
SanTan Gardens, Chandler
If one Oktoberfest isn’t enough, Chandler has another option.
Rocktoberfest combines the traditional beer-and-brats idea with a decidedly Arizona spin: local breweries, live rock music, cocktails, competitions and polka.
The three-day celebration runs October 2โ4 at SanTan Gardens. Visit Phoenix
๐ก Maricopa County Home & Garden Show
October 2โ4
WestWorld of Scottsdale
Home projects on your mind?
The Fall Maricopa County Home & Garden Show takes over WestWorld of Scottsdale for the weekend. The show fills more than 300,000 square feet with contractors, plant vendors, artisans, products and hands-on classes. Fabulous Arizona
It’s also the final Maricopa County Home Show of 2026.
For homeownersโor those of us who can somehow turn a quick trip for one home-improvement idea into a four-hour excursionโthis one can be dangerous. ๐
๐ Crescent Ballroom 15th Anniversary Party
Saturday, October 3
Crescent Ballroom โ Downtown Phoenix
A Phoenix music favorite celebrates a milestone this weekend.
Crescent Ballroom’s 15th Anniversary Party is part of Saturday’s event lineup, making it a good choice if you’re looking for a night out downtown. Visit Phoenix
๐ฆ Dinosaurs in the Desert
All Weekend
Phoenix Zoo
Dinosaurs have taken over the desert.
Dinosaurs in the Desert continues at the Phoenix Zoo throughout the fall, making this one of the better family-friendly options on our weekend list. Visit Phoenix
Combine it with a morning at the zoo before the afternoon temperatures climb.

Musical Instrument Museum โ North Phoenix
This one is especially convenient for our North Phoenix neighbors.
The Musical Instrument Museum hosts Experience Brazil Saturday and Sunday as part of its cultural programming, celebrating Brazilian music and culture. Visit Phoenix
It’s also a nice indoor option if 90-plus degrees doesn’t exactly scream “fall” to you yet.
๐ Sports This Weekend
Arizona sports fans had a full weekend.
Saturday, October 3: Baylor visited Arizona State at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe, while Cincinnati traveled to Tucson to face the University of Arizona. The Cincinnati-Arizona game kicked off at 8 PM Arizona time. AOL.com
Sunday, October 4: The Arizona Cardinals traveled to New York to face the Giants. Since we’re publishing this edition late, we now know the result: the Cardinals lost 36โ24 after holding leads earlier in the game. Arizona Cardinals
โ๏ธ Phoenix Weekend Weather
The graphic forecast called for sunshine throughout the weekend, and October certainly didn’t arrive with sweater weather.
The National Weather Service recorded a 97ยฐ high in Phoenix on Friday, October 2, two degrees above the normal high for the date. National Weather Service
That’s Arizona for you: Oktoberfest, fall festivals, pumpkin decorations…and air conditioning.
๐ก Maricopa County Real Estate Snapshot
Here’s this week’s quick look at the Maricopa County housing market:
| Market Indicator | Current Snapshot |
|---|---|
| Median List Price | $534,926 |
| Inventory | 13,763 |
| Average Days on Market | 98 days |
| Price Per Sq. Ft. | $271 |
| Market Action Index | 35 |
Those figures line up with Altos Research’s September 29 Maricopa County report. Altos characterized the market as holding a slight seller’s advantage, but noted that the Market Action Index had slipped from 36 the prior month to 35 while inventory increased. Altos Research
That’s an important distinction for buyers and sellers. This isn’t the frenzied Phoenix market of a few years ago. Buyers generally have more choices and negotiating room, while sellers need to pay much closer attention to pricing, condition and presentation.
Nearly 49% of listings had experienced a price decrease in the Altos snapshot. Altos Research
For sellers, that’s a pretty good reminder that getting the price right from the beginning matters.
๐ต Enjoy the Weekend, Phoenix!
One of the things we enjoy about living in the Phoenix area is just how much there is to do once fall arrives.
Whether you’re heading downtown for First Friday, celebrating Oktoberfest, catching a football game, taking the kids to see dinosaurs or just enjoying a slightly cooler Arizona evening, there’s always something happening somewhere around the Valley.
You can also check out our previous Phoenix Weekend Guides for more ideas and local activities.
